Food for Thought: Elegant Industrial
/There are many different styles of industrial interior design that are easy to spot. If you’ve ever been over to someone’s apartment or condo who went the industrial route, you may ask yourself, “did they actually design this, or did it come like this?” The answer is Yes, regardless of the explanation. The industrial look is unique and can be very aesthetically pleasing, but you can certainly go overboard and make your guests feel like they’re in a warehouse downtown.
Enter Elegant Industrial design. This style has become popular in Europe with the many old historic buildings that are now being used for residential living, and the people who live there are showcasing an excellent mix of preserving the historic architecture and adding a modern twist.
The pictures showcase a 840 square feet refurbished industrial styled apartment in Warsaw, Poland in a building that used to be a local vodka factory. The brick was restored and brings contrasts to the kitchen and becomes the focal point of the entire open space. The lighting and furniture add to the industrial feel with their metal frames and Edison style lighting and emphasized by the fiberglass kitchen lamps, which were custom made.
This old vodka factory has been transformed into modern industrial elegance with some simple restoration and contrast. The natural lighting from the window fills up the space which highlight the architectural and historic aspect of the open space. Take a look at some more pictures in the gallery.
